Os dejo una foto preciosa de la isla de Palawan al oeste de mis queridas Filipinas.
Esta foto ha ganado, en la categoria de Lugares, el premio a mejor fotografia del año en el concierto de National Geographic.
This picture, taken in Palawan Island, has won, in the category of "places", the annual National Geogaphic contest for best picture of the year 2011.
Exaltasamba is a Brazilian band that was born in the 80's in Sao Paulo. It is one of the most famous brazilian bands, it plays a modern type of Samba "called" Pagode. Interestingly Pagode isn't really music genre, it used to be the name given to a party where joy, drinking and singing where at the center.
I first came across this band last weekend (12/11/2011) in a taxi in Rio de Janeiro. The taxi driver had a screen where people usually put their car-radios, this way when the lights go red he can watch TV. That day he was playing a dvd of a concert where thousands of people were singing along to a "preto" singing a number of samba-like songs.
The song that stuck in my head talked about drinking, and the chorus of that song said: "If I drink it's my problem"

I have listened to them throughout this last week and I really enjoy this other song that talks about a women wanting to break up with her boyfriend/husband while he is desperate to make it work. Here is the video of them live and the lyrics in portuguese. Needless to say how good looking she is, right?

Here is one of the songs of the moment for me. It is called "Amor Clandestino", which means "Clandestine Love". It is composed by the most successful Latin Band of all times: Manà.
The video clip and the lyrics talk about those relationships that are not meant to occur but happen. Those relationships must be "clandestine", they must never become public. In the video there are three different relationships happening, and each of them is surreal.
Firstly, the video shows a young lady surrounded by two guys. She kisses one of them, seemingly the boyfriend, while the other seems out of place. Secondly, a young boy visits a psychologist in her 30s/40s. Right away he develops a crush on her. The psychologist realizes this but doesn't seem to react, probably knowing it isn't right. Thirdly, an old (rich) man falls in love with a stripper.
Each relationship develops differently and towards the end of the song, the lyrics switch and it seems one of the members of the relationship can't hold it anymore and wants the relationship to become public: "Se nos cae todo el cielo de tanto esperar"/ "All the sky falls on us for so much waiting"
